Dog rules in and around Courcenay

Dog rules in and around Courcenay

Dogs are super welcome. But one dog is not the other and therefore we have certain rules.

Leashed. In the Courcenay courtyard and in the immediate surroundings (exercise area) we want all dogs to be kept on a leash. On our own terraces, dogs are of course allowed off-leash.

No dogs in the bar or by the swimming pool. In the common areas, such as the bar, library and swimming pool, dogs are not allowed.

Poop cleaning. Every guest is expected to clean up any poo on their own terrace, in the courtyard or in the immediate vicinity of Courcenay. For this purpose, we have several dungboys and bags available.

Bedroom. For reasons of hygiene, dogs are not allowed on the beds and preferably not in the bedrooms. If your dog is used to sleeping on your bed, please bring your personal duvet and bedding.

Living room. Dogs are allowed to relax on the chairs and sofas. Please bring enough blankets for this. Everything must be left tidy after the holiday.

Bathroom. It is not allowed to clean the dogs in the shower. Please bring enough towels to rub the dogs dry after the walk before letting them enter the property.

Eating and drinking bowls. The gîte is equipped with eating and drinking bowls for the dogs.

In heat. It is compulsory to wear a pair of trousers when the dog is in heat. An accident? Always remove all traces of blood.

Damage. Please always report any damage. We always look for the best solution for both parties.

Taking a break without dogs? The dogs can stay alone in the house, but they should not cause any (noise) nuisance.

Veterinarian. We will accompany you to the vet if required.

Flea and tick treatment. We ask all guests to treat their dog against fleas and ticks before travelling to la douce France.

Travelling to France with your dog(s). Dogs must have a European passport and identification by chip. In addition, your dog must have a valid rabies vaccination.

Prohibited breeds. ‍France has 2 categories of dogs that can be potentially dangerous. The strict rules make it almost impossible to take these dogs on holiday to France. Therefore, we do not allow the following dogs on Courcenay: American Staffordshire terrier (‘pit bulls’), Mastiff (‘Boerboel’), Tosa and Rottweiler. This applies to pedigree dogs, crossbreeds and dogs similar in physique to these.
